George Anthony, Intern
Counseling Intern
George is driven to assist those in the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly gay men, with issues surrounding sex/sexuality, boundaries, shame, identity, depression, anxiety, or however these may intersect in life. George believes that therapy can create a safe and non-judgmental space to explore issues around desire, arousal, kink, consensual non-monogamy, hook-up culture, and masturbation in addition to the complex feelings that can sometimes accompany these issues. George sees that the human need to connect, both with others as well as with one’s self, is a driving force in the human experience and worth exploring in a safe and enjoyable way.
George’s therapeutic style is a warm, humanistic approach incorporating multiple modalities tailored to your unique and individual needs. “Therapy is never one-size-fits-all. My approach to therapy is to build a strong connection with you as we work together in identifying your goals and collaborate on what tools and support you need to live the life you aim for.”
George is currently pursuing his Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling from Grand Canyon University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Arizona State University. George chose ATC for his internship site because of their commitment to serving the LGBTQIA+ community and deepen his knowledge and skills with sex therapy. George is currently under the supervision of his Grand Canyon University faculty supervisor and under the clinical direction and supervision of Courtney Geter, LMFT-S, CST-S.
In his free time, George is passionate about cooking, cycling, spending time with his husband and their dog, as well as being with his friends. George loves to read (classics, smut, non-fiction, you name it!), laugh at things he shouldn’t laugh at, travel, and make his husband go with him to concerts he will not enjoy.
