Kristin Ferris, Intern
Social Work Intern
Kristin is deeply passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ young adults as they navigate challenges related to intersecting identities, such as sexuality and cultural beliefs. With over a decade of experience working with marginalized populations—including refugees, immigrants, and survivors of human trafficking—Kristin recognizes the complexities of identity, oppression, and privilege. She is dedicated to helping young adults embrace the full spectrum of their identities.
Kristin is committed to addressing the stigmatization of sexuality within diverse cultural contexts. She strives to empower her clients to feel liberated in their sexual identities, even when faced with conflicting spiritual values. Kristin takes pride in assisting her clients as they navigate the nuances of staying true to themselves while thriving socially and professionally.
With a strong interest in Intersectionality Theory, Kristin appreciates that identities are shaped by multiple intersecting factors, including race, gender, class, ethnicity, and nationality. She integrates Narrative Therapy and a Strengths-Based approach to provide comprehensive client support.
Kristin’s goal is to meet clients where they are, understanding that the journey toward liberation and self-acceptance is unique for everyone. She encourages her clients to discover their "superpower"—the strengths that enable them to embrace the best parts of themselves and equip them with the tools to succeed independently.
Kristin earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Georgia State University—Go Panthers! She is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Memphis under the clinical direction of Courtney Geter, LMFTS, and CSTS.
